Truck hits vehicle carrying ADC of Meghalaya Governor

An aide-de-camp (ADC) of the Meghalaya Governor R S Mooshahary had a narrow escape when a truck hit a vehicle ferrying him from Guwahati in Ri-Bhoi district, officials sources said today.

The incident took place between the district headquarter Nongpoh and Byrnihat late Sunday night at around 8:35 pm when an ADC, Deputy Commandant Sashi, who was returning from his leave, was on his way back from Guwahati airport, they said.

Sources at the Raj Bhavan said the truck hit the vehicle bearing Meghalaya VIP registration number thrice and escaped in the night leaving no trace along the Shillong-Guwahati highway, sources said.

While the police have remained tight lipped on the issue even as the DGP Kulbir Kishan was on his way from a tour to South Garo Hills today, sources said the ADC had lodged an official complaint with the government in this regard.

"I do not know if a case has been registered in this regard. And I have not spoken to the SP," DGP Kulbir Kishan said.

Efforts to speak to the concerned district police chief Claudia Lyngwa went in vain as she chose not to pick up the call.
